It's been snowy for two weeks now but no real powder to be found recently unfortunately. It's been really windy at the same time, which is not good because it doesn't allow the snow to pile up. The icy, exposed sections just get the snow blown off them and stay just as icy while the snow piles up in drifts.
Today we figured we'd try our best to find some good powder. We headed up to Fornet and stayed very high on the Marmottes Snowcross. This is Natalie, very high, on the Snowcross.
Unfortunately it was very rocky and icy under the skis. Nevertheless, Natalie still looked extremely professional coming down it.
i looked less professional, unless you include professional face-planters, as i ploughed into an icy ridge that i couldn't see at all in the zero-contrast conditions today. i also skied off a half-meter and then immediately a 1-meter mini ice-cliff that i couldn't see either.
It was at this point that i elected, after popping out of both skis, to take it slightly less aggressively. There's big snow tonight and it was snowing just above Ardent as we came home today. Tomorrow we're out in the morning to lay fresh tracks.
