Don't follow me

The lesson of the day is that when i head off-piste, i'm usually going the wrong way onto hard crusty ice, probably ending in a cliff and/or grass and then a climb back up to where i started.

i'm developing a bit of a reputation with Sally and Simon for taking us into the unknown, usually down some fun bumps on the way.  It's ok, i can take the dirty looks at the bottom when we all get together again.

It's so hot here at the moment i'm going to have to start skiing in my speedos.  It's as much as +7C at 1000m and just below freezing at the top.  The only good snow, sadly, is to be found on the piste.  The off-piste is crusty.  Slushy would be an improvement.  There's also plenty of muggles on the slopes, skiing with blinkers on.  We saw three young children lying in the snow being attended by the emergency services today, so take it easy if you're coming out.

All this complaining about conditions, but its really stunningly beautiful out here.  Gorgeous sunshine every day and the pistes are in reasonable condition so it's perfect weather for cruising and touring.

And this photo is of the man in the cool orangy-red one-piece ski suit (circa. 1926) posing perfectly at the head of the photo.  We figured we'd just fill in as some foreground.
