Geneva Opening Hours: Not Sunday

Today we visited Geneva in an attempt to purchase Paul's birthday present.  However, it should have been obvious to us that, whereas Evian-les-Bains is open Tuesday to Sunday, Geneva is open Monday to Saturday.

Quite clear really.  How does a major city survive not being open on a Sunday?  Not even any restaurants were open.  Actually, it was extremely pleasant walking along the lake in the clear warm sunshine and not have any shops around.  Everyone was relaxed and chilled out and frankly, if you're organised, you can do all your shopping on a Saturday.  i'm all in favour of a no-shops Sunday - nevermind increasing the Sunday trading.

The only place that was open, unsurprisingly, was a Starbucks on the west side of the Pont du Mont Blanc.  We avoided it like the plague.  We were rewarded, after trekking right back over to the East side of the Olde Towne by finding the only three open restaurants in the whole of Geneva.

So, in the Winter, on a Sunday, in Geneva, let me recommend the Spaghetti Factory, just off Rue de la Conferation, on the way up to the Saint Antoine parking.  By far, the best pasta i've had anywhere.  Ok, we were starving and had just walked a few miles, but it was good.

By the way, the big watery thing is the Jet d'Eau.
