Muggles and Ice

Muggle (n)

  1. Non-magical human totally unaware of the wizarding world.  See Harry Potter for more details.
  2. A skier or boarder, not in my ski-group, that does not live permanently in the resort but rather comes out on short breaks or at weekends specifically to annoy me.

Go home!  The Italian, some French and the majority of the English kids are now on holiday.  May i take this opportunity to recommend a beach holiday?  Can't you just get your fix by watching Ski Sunday?

The slopes are absolutely packed with crazy morons who can't ski.  Get off our mountain!  Two close calls on Saturday, one with a beret'ed lunatic who needed the entire piste to get down but still didn't feel the need to actually look where he was going and one orange-suited ex-convict who thinks it's wise to jump (really poorly) from the off-piste onto the piste without looking.

Just a reminder that the most dangerous place to be in the resort is on a blue cruiser in the sunshine on your first day.  Take it easy and try not to mess up anyone else's holiday.

In other news, my hot tip if you are out this week, which you probably are because 95% of the population of the Earth seems to be here, is don't ski in Morzine.  It's super icy and the blue cruisers at speed are lethal.  Wait, what am i saying?  Go to Morzine, it's great!  Leave the rest of the Portes du Soleil to us.
